No matter you are learning and practicing the Buddha Dharma or mental cultivation taught by sage Confucianists, there is one important thing in common. Whatever I am doing, I am not showing off to other people but proving to myself instead. Therefore, it is said in The Four Books that we have to “be cautious about our actions and the consequences.” That is, motivation does matter. – Master Jih Chang
