不能只想聽一些沒聽過的,對聽過的,心裡就沒有那樣的希求心,甚至有一些麻木感和不認真,或者不恭敬的心態。

We shall not just want to listen to something new and have much less diligence in mind for what we have heard before. We may even grow insensitive, insincere, or disrespectful.
Although we do hear and know something, do our minds change accordingly? Just like what gurus says, do we give rise to such perceptions? This is exactly what we need to introspect.

All humans have this instinct – to obtain happiness and escape suffering. The reason why we cannot obtain happiness is that we fail to see the essence of things. Our attempt to escape suffering and obtain happiness depends on karma. The kernel of karma is our actions, while our actions are directed by our insights. The Lamrim tells us the true and thorough antidotes for afflictions take place in the path for persons of great capacity, not of small or medium capacity. When facing circumstances, we shall not keep saying “do not give rise to your afflictions”, which is not the correct approach to learning the Lamrim. To eliminate afflictions, we have to give rise to our Bodhicitta first and then benefit others. No, that won’t happen. Since observing goodness reduces our hatred for others, or restrained, negative thoughts like not wanting to see someone.
As long as we see people’s contribution in our lives, we give rise to a lot of gratitude. When we have a lot of gratitude, we feel blessed and feel the warmth from our organization, family and friends. This is what our guru gives us. Among numerous events in everyday life, this is exactly the attitude with which we must make our observation.

Think twice: Are difficulty situations difficult in essence, or it was just myself to think of them as difficult? And how could such situation become less difficult?
We have guidelines, mental training, rules of discipline, and teachings from our Late Master.
一旦拿法來數數地校對內心、校對這個方向,我們就會不停地覺醒心中的良善,或者長養心中的善意。
As long as we adjust our mentality and direction, we will constantly awake the goodness within ourselves, or nourish our good will.
一旦我們的善意越來越擴大、越來擴大的時候,我們就會發現:真的有誰對立嗎?真的有很多敵人嗎?真的有很多好像我無法面對的嗎?
Once our good will grow larger and larger, we will find out: Is there anyone we must stand up against? Are there really a lot of enemies? Are there so many situations that I cannot handle?

◎記得早晨起床,就是皈依,至誠懇切地念三遍。假如家裡有佛堂,跪在佛前,否則坐著連念三聲,而後心中思惟、發願,暇滿人身難得,我得到了,難道就這樣為世間虛名假利而空忙,而沉淪痛苦嗎?今天有幸遇見佛法,認識世間的安樂都是無常,都是虛幻,我千萬別再為他欺誑,我要一心效學佛法,學習廣論。同學還要加上一個願:努力學習殊勝圓滿的宗大師教法,並且隨分隨力弘揚,祈求佛菩薩加持我們。早晨如此皈依,那麼一整天有一個行事的準則,不再茫茫然,無所適從,甚至於造了惡業,都不知道。【日常師父法語】
Remember to take refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and say it three times as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you have a hall of worship at home, kneel down in front of the Buddha. Otherwise you can sit down and say your refuge three times. Then you think and vow: now I obtain the precious human form of leisure, could I just stay busy with the unrealistic, earthly fame and gain and indulge myself in suffering? Now I am so fortunate as to meet the Buddha Dharma, and thus I realize all worldly happiness is impermanent and illusory. I should no longer be deceived, and I will devote myself to Buddhist learning and Lamrim. Our fellow learners should add one more wish: we should make efforts learning the superior and perfect teaching of Master Tsongkhapa, promote His teaching according to our ability, and pray for the assistance of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. If we take such refuge in the morning, there will be a standard of our behavior for the whole day. We are no longer at a loss, or even unaware when engaging in negative activities. – Master Jih Chang

◎發願希望諸佛菩薩加持我,把我一切的罪障通通淨除掉,那麼,一切的罪障從那裡開始啊?從不恭敬善知識開始。為什麼從這個地方開始?因為修學佛法的根本,先要依止善知識;你如果說有不恭敬善知識的話,對不起,你根本在什麼地方你沒摸到。你遇不到善知識,絕無可能修學佛法,這一點我們要了解,所以第一個要除掉。最後你要達到的目的是什麼呢?要徹底的淨除我法二種障礙。所以乃至於,換句話說,從最開始一直到最後的二種執著的相,徹底的消除掉,這個是淨除違緣。【日常師父法語】
I pray for the assistance of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas to eradicate all my sins. Then what is the origins of all such sins? It comes from the disrespect for the guru. Why disrespect? It is because the root of Buddhist learning has to be the reliance on the guru. If you have any disrespect, sorry, you know nothing about learning. Without your guru, there is no way you can learn Buddha Dharma, which we definitely have to understand. Therefore, disrespect is the first thing we have to eradicate. What about your ultimate purpose? You have to thoroughly remove two obstacles: attachment to yourself and attachment to phenomena. In other words, from the very beginning to the end, the two attachments is the obstacles that we have to remove. – Master Jih Chang
