The essence of offering is to escape suffering and obtain happiness. The two most important things are to “clean sins” and “collect merits”. It is just like two primary considerations for the entrance exam: First, am I intelligent and wise enough to pass the test? Second, do I have enough budget for education once I get admitted? When the Buddha achieves the perfect completion, both His “bliss” and “wisdom” will reach the highest standard and be supreme among all two-legged beings. – Master Jih Chang
